2022 Ford Super Duty at Heartland Ford in Fort Saskatchewan, AB
When it comes to tough and dependable, there isn’t a truck on the market that can hold a candle to the 2022 Ford Super Duty. With models and trim levels ranging from the F-250 XL all the way to the F-450 Limited, there’s a truck in the Ford Super Duty lineup capable of handling the job—whatever that job is. Read on, and let Fort Saskatchewan’s Heartland Ford break down what makes the 2022 Ford Super Duty so worthy of the ‘Super’ in its name.
Performance
With an expanded lineup of engines that take advantage of the 2022 Ford Super Duty’s new, lighter frame, you’ll have access to all the power you need to out-haul and out-tow the competition. The base trims of the F-250 and F-350 offer a standard 6.2L Flex-Fuel Gas V8 delivering 385 horsepower, as well as 430 lb.-ft of torque at only 3,800 rpm. A second gas option, the brand-new port fuel-injected 7.3L V8 is the most powerful V8 in its class—a big-block pushrod with variable-cam timing that produces serious power, while offering exceptional durability. The third option in the Super Duty lineup is the third-generation Power Stroke® Turbo Diesel, a 6.7L V8 with a brand-new 36,000-psi fuel-injection system atomizing fuel up to eight times per stroke for unparalleled fuel combustion. If your job needs power this is the truck, thanks to 475 horsepower and an almost unbelievable 1,050 lb.-ft of torque.
In addition to their powerful performance, these engines offer great fuel efficiency thanks to a pair of available transmissions starting with the Ford TorqShift®-G 6-speed automatic; smooth shifting and responsive, this transmission comes with SelectShift® technology including an overdrive lockout thanks to the Progressive Range Select feature, a Tow/Haul mode, as well as a Full Manual mode. Standard in most Super Duty models however, the new Ford TorqShift® 10-speed automatic transmission is specially engineered with optimized drive ratios and shift performance. The five standard selectable modes, Normal, Tow-Haul, Eco, Slipper, and Deep Sand/Snow—along with Rock Crawl Mode on the available Tremor Package—allow you to tailor your pickup’s gear range according to the conditions, while the available Live-Drive Power Takeoff Provision with Mobile Mode gives the Super Duty best-in-class torque to handle heavy-duty aftermarket accessories.

Design
While the 2022 Ford Super Duty lineup offers the same robust and rugged style seen on the F-150, performance is the most important measure of a heavy duty, commercial truck—and the Super Duty has been designed to perform. With over 30,000,000 kilometres (19 million miles!) of wear-testing going into the 2022 Super Duty, from temperatures as low as -28 degrees Celsius to as high as 48 degrees Celsius, this truck has proven itself as Built Ford Tough. Ford has tested the powertrain on six-degree grades for over 800 kilometres, and even intentionally tested the Super Duty with worn down and broken parts, and they always came to the same conclusion: the durability of the 2022 Ford Super Duty is beyond reproach.
A lot of this incredible toughness stems from the 2022 Super Duty being the only full-size, heavy-duty pickup on the market with a high-strength, military-grade aluminium-alloy body. Not only is this truck more resistant to dents, dings, and corrosion, but it’s also lighter and stronger than any Super Duty before it. Shaving weight in the body let Ford add weight to the frame, a fully boxed number made from over 90% high-strength steel—24 times stiffer than the previous version. Minimal flexing and twisting allows the 2022 Ford Super Duty to maximize strength and rigidity, leading to the highest payload and tow ratings in its class.

Safety & Technology
While the entire 2022 Ford Super Duty lineup is known for its durability, dependability, and power, it’s also incredibly advanced, too! Starting with a range of available driver-assistance features, the 2022 Super Duty can be equipped with features like BLIS with Cross-Traffic Alert and Trailer Coverage, Pro Trailer Backup Assist, Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking, Adaptive Cruise Control, and more; because even if the Ford Super Duty can work harder, it can just as easily work smarter. A standard Rear View Camera with fixed guidelines adds to the ease of navigating your Super Duty, as do the range of other available backup camera features like Trailer Reverse Guidance.
These features make good use of the Super Duty’s touchscreen, which can be equipped with Ford’s SYNC® or SYNC® 3 infotainment system, adding hands-free smartphone access along with optional navigation. If you’re looking to add some heavy-duty pickups to your fleet, the Super Duty is a smart choice thanks to its available upfitter switches and a programmable, class-exclusive factory-installed upfitter interface module. Add in the manufacturer-grade Ford Telematics™ and Data Services™ to provide an easy and effective way to track your fleet vehicles’ location, speed, fuel consumption, maintenance, and more!

Super Duty Model Changes
While not a complete redesign, the 2021 Ford Super Duty got some serious upgrades over the 2020 version, ranging from improved powertrain cooling (thanks to new grille designs), to brighter, better performing headlights, a variety of upgrades to the chassis, two new engine options, and more. For 2022, new infotainment package and appearance options range from adding the all-new SYNC 4 infotainment system to new exterior and interior colour options, as well as a new Lariat Sport appearance package.
